Committee Night

Reports from our Committee Night held on October the 18th are entered below.
Administration

We are keen to look at the Ron Procter Trust to see how best to use these funds as we would like to see the fund used rather than sit in an account. We welcome any ideas and suggestions.

Council of Legislation Resolutions: we request members read this report as there are items that will interest us all. Please read so we can make our views known to the issues. Nothing will change if we sit on our hands.
(Note by Editor: major reports are prepared every three years.  The 2016 report can be found here.)

Club Welfare: while there is good working happening that many of us do not know about, we are keen to look at making this area more of an involvement from the whole club rather than leaving it to just a few. Very keen to hear your views on this and if we can help those who are already doing their bit and need more help to please let us know. This becomes more important as we all age.

International

Remaining $2,000 required for the Apia Obesity Programme will come from our Quiz Night next May.

We are going to arrange for an International Speaker (John Scott) for next February being international month.

We will be packing container for Fiji in next couple of weeks. We require to have 116 cartons transported from Invercargill for the container.

We are still intending to fund one more ERK this year at cost of $600.

The money from our club for the District Film evening will be part of our clubs contribution to Foundation.

New Generation

We welcomed a new member to our Committee, Brian Thompson. Brian has experienced a lot of contact with youth in his role in education and should be a valuable member on our committee.

Most of our time was spent reviewing our activities over the last year.

As to the next few months we expect to support Jessica Fahey to RYLA and Papanui Highs School in their next year's peer support programme.

We have had contact from Leah World from PHS asking for volunteers along with the PHS PTA to help tidy up their Horticulture garden area and also the area along the cycle way.

We will let the club know when we have further details.

Membership / Image

We have sent out two “Friends of Rotary” newsletters based on a mobile friendly concept with multiple links.  We looked at the reports Gary shared with respect to what sections visitors view.  This is helping us learn as we go, in order to become more efficient.

Our recent Membership Night resulted in two new members.  We are learning as we go with these and one change for future events is to ensure we tell attendees what we are planning to do in the near future and share the fun side of these activities.  This includes briefing members how they can help with this on the day.

While we are good at raising funds it was suggested that we also need to be getting out and doing more.

One idea we heard about and will try is having members look through their Contacts lists and choose three names to send an invite out to. We are also aware some clubs are targeting Tertiary attendees and we will look at giving this a try.  It was also suggested we might ask Roteract to join us for a function.

With respect to the future project Pipeline, we will be asking for ideas as it was felt it would be better to look for some quick fire projects to help show what we can do.
