A great turnout on Saturday for the dedication of the two Peace Poles in Papanui Bush.
Thanks to Hamish Campbell MP for Ilam, and Councillor for Papanui, Victoria Henstock who was standing in for the Mayor for taking the time to attend and speaking with great heart and empathy about creating peace.
The Peace Pole movement began in Japan in the 1940s and since that time over 250,000 have been erected in almost every country in the world.
The words "May Peace Prevail on Earth" is their trademark with 3 other languages of your choosing on the other 3 sides of the pole.
These Poles will be marked on the world map and it is Past District Governor, Liz Courtney's wish that every club will begin installing them throughput NZ and the Pacific region.
