RYE Students visit Papanui Rotary

We were delighted to welcome seven Exchange Students to our Club Night last week.

Arie began proceedings by commenting on the great value the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme brings.

Shona then added that 32 students have been put through the South Island Tour as part of the programme and the significant impact that the programme has in changing the world one student at a time.

Each of the seven students commented briefly on their experiences as follows:

Hans (Denmark): “I am having a great time.  I especially liked the South Island (SI) tour.  I got to experience things I’d never done and the amazing nature during the trip.”

Celestine (Belgium): “I am really enjoying being in another culture.  I especially liked the SI tour and the bungee which was exciting.”

Anna (Denmark): “Dunedin is great.  I wanted to experience something different.  Love the experience.  I am afraid of heights so doing the bungee was great.”

Francisca (Chile): “Being here with the Waimate Club is great fun.  Mt best experience was seeing the All Blacks.”

Olivia (Sweden): “I really love it here in New Zealand and experiencing a very different culture, nature and the people.”

Sylvia (Taiwan): “I am proud of my flag and of my family.  I really loved going skiing as I have not done that before.”

Moe (Japan): “My home and family is very important to me.  I loved the SI tour, meeting new friends and my memories.”

Shona finished the session by giving a huge “thanks” to hosts who take great care of their charges.
