Shooting Event Report
Our club once again hosted the District Target Shooting competition on Tuesday 18 September. Papanui registered 2 men’s teams and 1 women’s team. The women scooped the cup for best team in the women’s’ division.
Congratulations to Vanessa Dynes, Cath Costello, Emma Kelly (Arie and Janice’s’ daughter in law) and Fraser Dynes who was not made to wear a skirt in order to help the women out.
The top men’s team was Ashburton A once again with the runner up being Avonhead. Top men’s shot was David Lusk from Ashburton A and top women’s shot was Jo Metcalf also from Ashburton although Emma Kelly ran a close second for top women’s shot.
Top shot for Papanui on the night was Jonny Murnane with an impressive 90.1.
There were 45 shooters, a team of willing helpers from Papanui and 10 from the Christchurch Target Shooting Assn. – all up about 60 people on the night.
Supper was tremendous thanks to Janice and Emma, the raffle prizes looked terrific and the fellowship was great. A warm relationship has been built up with the Target Shooting Assn over the years and the strength of that relationship was evident on the night.
Several emails have been received complimenting the club on a well-run event.
